I am such an admirer of Cissy Spacek as an actress that I think this is one of my favourite photographs. I hope I captured something of her down-to-earth cowgirl nature in that misty expression, check shirt, and sweater tied insouciantly around her waist. We spent the afternoon together on the set of ‘3 Women’, Robert Altman’s film. I like the windswept palm and ghostly swimming pool in the background. Cissy had just been nominated for an Oscar in the film ‘Carrie’, and later she went on to win an Academy Award for her role as Loretta Lynn in ‘Coalminer’s Daughter’.
