Phil Lynott Kings Road, Chelsea 1977
Phil Lynott was the charismatic Irish lead singer of Thin Lizzy, who had had a great deal of success in the mid-to-late 1970’s. Sadly, he died in 1986, but this picture was taken in about 1977 on the King’s Road in Chelsea. The punk movement had begun the year before, and we had just passed a gang of punk rockers, who had muttered ‘dinosaur’ at Phil. I reflected at the time how fickle was the game of rock ‘n’ roll. I remember Phil as a wonderfully gentle and chivalrous human being, who always held the door open for us ladies. He was a true poet.
